Translation

I translate any kind of creative text, from prose fiction to poetry to political treatises... The only writing I do not translate is legal, medical or highly-specialized scientific or extremely technical writing. I do translate popular science and general technical writing, as well as non-fiction writing, website content, advertising and marketing materials and just about everything else.

Revision

Revising, or editing, is an essential step in the writing process, and I perform this work in every translation I do. I also offer it as a separate service for documents that have already been translated from French into English, in which case I carefully compare the original and translated versions, and correct, where necessary, for meaning, style, flow, usage and paragraph transitions. I also revise books written directly in English. My years as an editor give me the expertise needed for this.

Proofreading

Proofreading is generally the last step in the writing process, and one that requires extreme care, to catch every last typo or usage error. I have a good eye for this, and have made use of it to proofread hundreds of thousands of words over the last 20 years.

Rates

My rates are considered quite reasonable by my clients. The rate varies according to the complexity of the text -- a poem takes far more time to translate or revise than a simple catalog, for example -- so I provide a personal quote for each project that clients bring to me.
